Captains Log Week 1 California

Day 1 SF to Sacramento

Not much info from the Lads other than a detailed review of the All you Can Eat buffet lunch at Winters. CT has first flat of the trip

Day 2 to Placerville, CA.

100+ miles on 1st day. Climb up to 2000 feet with 76 miles on Day 2.

"All going great". Stay in log cabin. Carson Pass awaits (8000 ft)... "Buggy's fitness is incredible". Oo-er.

Day 3

at 7 Up Ranch in Sierra Nevada Mountains. Second consecutive landlady called Barbara.

Day 4

Made it over Carson Pass. Puncture count 1-1. "Most challenging day of my life so far,  after the long day I spent hitch hiking with Tobs". Aiming for Fallon CA tomorrow.

Next Day

"There's not a centimetre of my body below the navel that is not aching". (Interesting use of metric measure vs. Inches -Ed.). 

Other incidents reported this week;

- Bugs makes coffee in motel room without a filter

- CT sees some tumbleweed blow across the road - a poignant moment for him, apparently

- They hit the desert & appear a bit surprised that its quite warm

- Steak & gambling at Local casino

- Riding on the Loneliest Road in America

Hope that the movie version of this trip spices up Week 1 a bit...
